A Family's Ascent:Our Seagull Mountain Resort
Last year, Dad declared a family vacation was in order – a much-needed escape to Barangay Lorega, in Davao City's Marilog District. School was out, and it was the perfect opportunity to reconnect with our cousins, aunt, and uncle. Uncle, ever the planner, decided to take the reins, arranging a trip to a place he'd heard about: Seagull Mountain Resort.
We prepared snacks and drinks, anticipating a refreshing swim in the resort's pool. The drive itself was an adventure. The journey, though only about 30 minutes from where Uncle was taking us, felt longer, winding through scenic landscapes. Three hours from Davao City, the resort finally emerged into view, a welcome sight after the journey.
Seagull Mountain Resort, nestled amongst the hills, is a hidden gem. It's one of those places that feels similar to Tagaytay or Baguio, but with its own unique charm. The air was crisp and clean, a refreshing contrast to the city's humidity. The resort's location offers a cool climate year-round, with fresh mountain air and long daylight hours.
The resort itself was a delightful surprise. The buildings, though simple, possessed a rustic charm. We spent our days exploring the surrounding area, hiking through forests where the air hummed with the songs of unseen birds. The trails wound upwards, offering stunning views of the valley below, a patchwork of green fields and winding rivers. The forest floor,a tapestry of moss and fallen leaves, yielded softly under foot each step a meditation in itself.Evenings were spent by the pool, the cool water a soothing balm after a day of exploring.
Seagull Mountain Resort is one of the many destinations in Davao City.It was a family chance to reconnect with nature, and a reminder of the simple joys of life. It was a journey to the summit of family togetherness, and the memories made there remain as clear and refreshing as the mountain air.
